Beautiful large hand-carved fish-shaped chopping board by Cornwall-based artist James Heslip - exclusive to Sailors Jail. Please note as these boards are hand-made from natural wood, there will be some slight variations between them and each one is unique.

James Heslip studied Fine Art at Kingston College of Art, and is the co-founder of Cygnets Art School and Sailors Jail Gallery with his wife Tabby. They live near Penzance in the pink house at the top of the hill, with their two children Rudy and Ziggy, and dog Badger.
 
James’ work uses traditional woodblock printing techniques. Each design is intricately carved into the wood, then printed by hand onto paper. This method results in a beautiful, textured effect, where each artwork has its own fingerprint.
 
James has had a passion for animals from a young age, which is evident throughout his work. He has a fantastic ability to capture the essence of each creature, combined with a unique and unmistakable style.
