‘My goal is always to produce striking and colourful images which stir the imagination and excite the senses.
I am very lucky to live in Cornwall where there is a wealth of beautiful locations in every direction. Most of my photography is centred here in the South West.
I enjoy reading so I draw inspiration from my favourite authors such as Tolkien, Lovecraft, Poe, M. R. James, to name but a few.
My love for photography began in 1982 when I was given a camera for my 7th birthday. At first most of my shots were unfathomable but I loved them!
I bought my first 35mm SLR in the early 1990s and shortly after, began studying photography at Falmouth College of Art & Design. Inspired by early infrared artists such as Ansel Adams and Simon Marsden, I spent most of my time in the college dark room working in black and white with infrared film which I developed a great passion for.
In my adult life, the advent of internet, digital photography and social media revolutionised the way I think and work as an amateur photographer, opening up a world of possibilities previously unimagined.
I still feel the same excitement and trepidation when planning a photo shoot. From studying maps, books and websites to find new and interesting locations, to considering sunrise and sunset times and bearings, lunar and astronomical cycles, weather forecasts, tide times and other factors to time the shoot just right and achieve the perfect result.’
