Original Stag Beetle painting by artist Tabby Booth.

Medium: Waxed Acrylic on Cradled Wood Panel (like canvas but solid wood, which results in a beautiful texture. Can be hung straight on the wall without the need for a frame).

Size: 84.1 x 59.4 x 1.9cm

Tabby Booth studied illustration at Central St Martins and is the co-founder of Cygnets Art School and Sailors Jail Gallery with her husband Hessy. They live near Penzance in the pink house at the top of the hill, with their two children Rudy and Ziggy, and dog Badger.

Tabby’s work uses a variety of mediums and styles, bound together by a love of texture and contrast. Whether this be layers of sgraffito oils on wood, or bright neon inks on rag paper, the result is always bold, and humorous - made (as Tabby says) for the walls of bold, humorous people.

Tabby’s subject matter is invariably focused on animals, and often their relationship to humans. As a captivating mix of the two, and with a personal and physical closeness to the sea, mermaids are a frequent feature.
